Team Canada Football Holds Quebec Selection Camp
Montreal, November 28, 2006- Team Canada football will hold a Quebec selection this weekend to evaluate the province’s top 19 and under players. Approximately 50 players from this camp will be selected to attend a national selection camp that will determine the Canadian team for the NFL Global Junior Championship XI.

Similar camps will be held across the country in the coming weeks. The Ontario selection camp is scheduled for December 2 in Guelph.
The selection camp for Quebec players takes place December 2-3 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Soccerplexe Catalogna situated at 775 1ère Avenue in Lachine (at the corner of Highway 20)
Constantin, head coach of the Vanier Cup champion Université Laval Rouge et Or, and his staff expect to pick about 50 Quebec players for the national selection camp December 16-17 in Rosemère. The final Team Canada roster will consist of the country’s 40 best 19 and under players.
The Global Junior Championship XI is an official NFL event and takes place in Fort Lauderdale during Super Bowl Week (January 29- February 3, 2007). The tournament, now in its eleventh year, will be played as part of the Super Bowl XLI festivities.
Other countries competing are Japan, Mexico, France, Panama and the U.S. A South Florida select squad will represent the U.S.
Panama is a new entry to the competition and joins Mexico and the U.S., in the American Division. Canada, Japan and France, the European champions, are in the National Division. The preliminary round games are set for Wednesday January 31 from noon to 10 p.m. Those games will determine the finalists for the final February 3 at 3 p.m. at Lockhart Stadium, which was also the venue for the 1999 event.
