Local Stars To Entertain GJC Crowd
Rising R&B pop star Giorgi and the Miramar High School Soldier Band From Patriot Land will entertain the crowd at Lockhart Stadium in Fort Lauderdale at the NFL Global Junior Championship on Saturday, February 3.
Miami-based Giorgi will sing the National Anthem ahead of the Championship Game at 3pm then the renowned Miramar High School band will perform a spectacular halftime routine.
“We are delighted to welcome two first class acts to add to what is certain to be a great day of entertainment for the crowd to enjoy,” said NFL Global Junior Championship organizer Patrick Steenberge. “We will have an international cast on the football field and media in attendance from around the world and will welcome them with our nation’s anthem and a traditional American marching band.”
A graduate of Dr. Michael Krop High School in Miami, Giorgi has just finished working on her first album. Her voice, a rich blend of R&B and pop edginess, could easily identify her as the Britney Spears of Hip Hop – appealing to two of the largest music genres in the world. Giorgi’s passion is performing live, which she was able to do of as part of a national mall tour with Ashlee Simpson and Ryan Cabrera. Her most popular tracks were A Boy Like That, You, and her cover of Whitney Houston’s I Wanna Dance With Somebody.
Under the instruction of Alvin A. Davis, Director of Bands, the 130-strong Miramar High School Band Program consistently scores high marks at District and State Festivals and the Miami Herald called them “one of the best high school bands in the state of Florida”. This year alone, the band has been invited to Bethune-Cookman College homecoming, South Carolina State University homecoming, the Florida Classic Band Festival, and was the first high school band to open on national television before a Miami Dolphins game.
Their shows, nicknamed ‘A Marching Musical Explosion’, are consistently on the cutting edge of creativity and band pageantry. The band is also home to the 2006 US National championship dance team, the Sophisticated Sapphires, Crimson Sparkler Majorette Squad, and the Silver Stutter Flag line.
